Introduction

1. The Church of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is a ministry with the universal mandate to preach the gospel to the world, win souls and make disciples for Christ [Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20].

2. Contiguous to the universal mandate, the local church makes ready a people prepared for the Lord by:

Promoting the spiritual, physical, emotional and social well-being of people

Conceptual Framework for Ministry and Church Operations

1. The local church fulfills its universal mandate through church services, programmes, events and the activities of ministry groups guided by its vision, mission and philosophy.

2. God has endowed the local church with people, money, time and resources. Good stewardship of these is essential for achieving the church's divine mandate.

The Transformation and Development Agenda

The universal mandate of the church is transformational and developmental, making the church an agent of transformation and development. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for the total salvation, transformation and development of people [spirit, soul, body] so that they can fulfil their divine destiny and assignments.

Believers in Jesus Christ [as individuals and as a church] are admonished to promote justice, care for the needy and seek the interest of others to demonstrate the love of Christ [Micah 6:8, Matthew 25:35-40, Philippians 2:3-4, James 1:27].

The local church provides practical solutions to the myriad of problems confronting individuals, families, communities, institutions and the nation at large. Through social intervention programmes, local churches promote the general well-being of people, support communities and institutions [in education, health, social welfare, etc.], all of which contribute to national development.

The Challenge to Local Churches

The church is the body of Christ with both spiritual and physical representations. Even though churches are not businesses, the local church operates like a business organization from the marketing, financial, operational and human resources perspectives.

Dr.Albert Benjamin Rockson, III

Lead Consulting Minister

He served in full-time employment with his local church as Director of Administration for about a decade [after serving as a church volunteer worker for over fifteen years.His ministry passion is to help the local church across denominations to build administrative capacity for operational efficiency and effective ministry work

He currently serves on the Administration and Human Capital Management Committee of his church.He recently served as the Convenor of the Working Group on Pastoral Leadership and Managerial Skills Training for Pastors in his church. He has varied professional backgrounds and work experiences in scientific research, leadership training, organizational development and church administration. He launched his first book titled “The Dynamics of Local Church Operations and Effective Work of the Ministry: An Experiential Exposition” in December 2020. He co-authored a new book with his wife titled “Enhance Your Effectiveness as a Church Volunteer” in 2025. He is a lifetime member of the National Society of Leadership and Success [USA] and Golden Key International Society [USA]

Qualifications & Experience

A Bachelor’s in Natural Resources Management from the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi-Ghana [1986]
A Master’s in Water Resources Management from UNESCO/IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft, The Netherlands [1998]
A Doctorate in Business Administration [Leadership] from Walden University in the USA [2019]. He recently graduated from the Daniel Institute with Advanced Certificate in Counselling [2025]
